Bogor is located on West Java, not too far from the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. Bogor could be accessed from Jakarta by using buses or trains. Several Interesting Spots

There are several interesting spots that could be visited on Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park. The first one is called Telaga Biru or The Blue Lake. This small lake is located about 1.5 Km from the Cibodas entrance. The lake is always appearing in blue color since there are blue algae that live on the lake. The next interesting spot is Cibeureum waterfall. This waterfall has 50 m height and located about 2.8 Km from Cibodas. You also could find several hot springs on this area. You even could smell the sulfur from the steam that produced by these hot springs. For those of you who love camping and any other outdoor activities, you could build your tent on the camp sites which known as Kandang Batu and Kandang Badak. These camp sites are also used as observation center for the plants and animals that occupied the area. The main attraction on this area is definitely the crater of Gunung Gede Pangrango. You could see several cities from this point including Bogor and Cianjur. You could find three active craters on this area. They are Lanang crater, Ratu crater and Wadon crater. The geological activities of the craters and the view of sunrise or sunset from this point become the major attractions that make this place famous.

Some Useful Tips

For those of you who want to visit the site, you could use Jakarta to Cibodas route via Bogor by using car. The trip will take about two and half hours. If you came from Bandung, you could use Bandung Cibodas route via Cipanas which could be taken within 2 hours. If you want to go straight from Bogor, you could take Bogor Salabintana route within 2 hours to get to the site. Since the temperature is quite low, about 18 to 5 degrees, you might need to consider wearing proper clothing. Jackets, sweaters and trousers are necessary clothing for those of you who want to visit the place. You also need to bring other equipments such as compass, map, goggles, flashlights, walkie talkie, GPS, and various camping equipments especially for those of you who want to spend the night on the camping grounds. Your safety is the main concern that you need to consider when visit the site. You also need to remember that you have to keep the ecosystem on this place so make sure you bring your own garbage bag and don’t leave any garbage or disposal materials on the area.
